ABOUT BITUMEN & ASPHALT
Bitumen is a heavy, viscous material that can be both found naturally, and as a refined petroleum product used in paving, roofing and industrial applications. Bitumen and asphalt are terms with different regional meanings. In Europe, bitumen is the black glue used to hold the aggregate together, whilst asphalt commonly refers to the building material placed on the road consisting of both aggregate and bitumen. In the United States bitumen and asphalt are commonly interchangeable terms referring to the black glue, bitumen. Regardless of nomenclature VALT’s fleet stores and transports the liquid material at high temperatures (approximately 150°C) globally.
Valt’s global trading operation distributes asphalt to customers worldwide and includes access to a global network of terminals operated by Vitol.
